HOCKEY WORLD CUP NEWS : In a surprising move, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced that the Chile women’s national team would be replacing Canada in the first-ever FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup, scheduled for Valencia, Spain, from December 11-17.
Canada has withdrawn from the next FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup, and the next best rated team outside of the existing participants is the Chilean squad, who have been making waves in international hockey over the last year.

With a chance at promotion to the FIH Hockey Pro League at stake with a win in the Nations Cup, the Chilean side has every incentive to keep rolling in 2022.
As the year began, Chile qualified for the FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup in Spain and the Netherlands 2022 by finishing second to Argentina in the 2022 Women’s Pan American Cup. In addition to their great play, the Chilean women’s team stole the show during the Women’s World Cup with their infectious enthusiasm and enthusiasm for the game. And who could forget the sights and sounds of Chile’s first game victory against the tournament’s defending silver medalists, Ireland.
FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup
The Chilean women’s team put another feather to their crown this past week as they defeated the defending World Cup silver medalists and current Pro League winners, Argentina, in the finals of the XII South American Games Asunción 2022.
The Chilean team’s captain, Camila Caram, expressed her delight at being able to compete in the Nations Cup. Though we mourn Canada’s absence, we welcome the chance to demonstrate our own prowess. We’re excited to take on the competition and hope that we can hold our own against such formidable opponents.
Canada’s replacement in Pool B, Chile, will join India, Japan, and South Africa, while Spain’s hosts, Ireland, Italy, and Korea will compete in Pool A.
